In the beginning of July 2015, I applied for the custodian opening at Central Lafourche High School.  In the interviewed with the principal Chris Kimble and vice principle Arnold and a secretary,  I asked them what the hours would be.  They said my houses would be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..  Because of the bad economy effecting my business,  I said "okay" and asked them to change my hours to an earlier time if possible in the future.  I told them about my business and said I would be open for business after I knocked off.  They understood my situation.  For over a year and a half, my business hours were Tues. thru Fri. 4:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m..  My customers understood my situation and adopted slowly to the change.  After this "year and a half", we had a new principal...Martin.  I asked martin after a few months if by there was any chance my hours could change.  He said he would look into it.  A few weeks later, he changed my hours to 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. I told him how much I appreciated it and thanked him.  A few weeks later, they wanted me to start working additional hours... sometimes on Friday nights and sometimes day/night on Saturdays or Sundays.  I told Mr. Martin because of my business, it was understood I did not have to.  He checked with the Vice Principal, who at that time was Arnold who was present at my interview.  Arnold DENIED it... and told him they never talked about the subject!  Wrong! I did not have to work overtime for over 1 1/2 years, how could he deny it?  Ever since, I took this as unfair and I have to try to work this out with other custodians... maybe swapping days or hours.  About three monts ago, Martin is no longer principal and Arnold, who was the Vice Principal has taken his place.  (Principals, teacher, and custodians don't last long her at CLHS.  Since I started in 2015, CLHS now has the 3rd principal, many teachers have left and about 5 custodians have quit!)


On Monday, January 6th, after the Christmas/New Year holdiays, I reported back to work.  Before the holidays, I took an eleven day vacation prior to the two week Christmas/New Year holidays.  This has been my routine for the past three years so I can keep up with my customer's orders.  This vacation time and other vacations have all been approved by "Valencia Pierre", the "Assistant Principle".  A few days later, on Friday, January 10th, Pierre called me to her office.  When I walked in her office, Malik, head custodian I work under was sitting in front of the desk, I sat down beside him.  Pierre was very teed off at me.  She said some teachers were complaining about their dirty classes and how filthy the hallway was just before the holidays.  IT WAS NOT MY RESPONSABILITY... I WAS ON A VACATION SHE APPROVED OF MONTHS EARLIER!  It was apparent, Malik, the custodian over me DID NOT tell her about my vacation time.  I wanted to let her finish raising hell before telling her about me being on vacation.  After telling me this, she says my hours will have to change.  Starting Monday, January 13th.  Instead of working from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. I will have to work from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..  This is now killing my business and they just don't give a damn.  I looked at Malik...he had a smerk on his face the whole time.  Before I could say anything she told to to leave, get back to work and we would discuss this matter later.  She hasn't called me back yet.  I saw the principal a few minites later and wanted to talk to him about my hour change but all he said was "It has been decided and will not be changed." 


Malik not backing me up, Pierre not remembering she approved of my eleven day vacation, and the principal who also apparently knew nothing about my vacation but backs THEM up has given me a bad reputation and I want this straightened out.  I also want my previous work hours restored or at least let me clockout at 4:00 p.m. instead of 5: p.m.!


ANOTHER INCIDENT:  On Friday, January 10th, my hours were still 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  I did my usual that day... cleaned all the rooms before school started, then cleaned the library and four classrooms in second period.  On Monday, January 13th (starting date of me working from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), BOTH me and my wife had a dental appoint.   I called CLHS and told Pierre at 7:00 a.m. about the appointments.  She said "okay".  So... I WOUND NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DIRTY CLASSROOMS AT THE END OF SCHOOL!  The custodians with a later shift were then responsible for my work.  On my day off, before Malik knocked off, a custodian showed Makik photos of how filty the classrooms were.  And yet, again, Malik KNEW I was not there and DID NOT back me up!  The next time I take a day off I will type out all the info, make a few dozen copies and spread out copies in the shool office,in our break-room, in my storate room, teacher's lounge, etc.!  What a shame they are so ignorant...
